League of Ireland players amongst the winners at the FAI International awards

Amongst the awards handed out at the 33rd FAI International Awards in The Round Room in The Mansion House on Tuesday night were a number for League of Ireland palyers and former League of Ireland players.

Rory Gaffney received the SSE Airtricity League Player of the Year award while St. Patrick’s Athletic defender Sam Cutis was named the men’s under-18 international player of the year.

Shamrock Rovers teenagers won both of the under-17 awards with Naj Razi winning the men’s award and Aoife Kelly the women’s. Peamount United’s Freya Healy won the women’s u-16 award.

Former Bohemians forward Evan Ferguson was named the Young Men's International Player of the Year.

Ex-Peamount United striker Amber Barrett claimed the International Goal of the Year for her finish in Hampden Park against Scotland that helped propel Vera Pauw's team to this summers’s FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.

Nathan Collins won the Senior Men's International Player of the Year award while goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan won the Senior Women's award.

A jury of members from Soccer Writers' Ireland helped select some of the nominees and winners from seven different categories.
