Aston Villa snap up Dutch International van Domselaar

Aston Villa Women are set to welcome their first summer signing, Dutch goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar.

The international star is expected to join the club on a three-year contract, upon the expiration of her deal at FC Twente. 

At only 23-years-old, Van Domselaar has already proven her calibre on the international stage with 13 caps for the Netherlands.

She also made her senior debut at club level in 2017, earning valuable experience and showcasing her skills.

Her rising profile has also led to her inclusion in the Netherlands squad for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand.

Manager Carla Ward expressed her excitement over the upcoming addition to the squad.

"Daphne is someone we’ve tracked for some time," she stated. "We knew we had real competition from some of Europe's biggest clubs, so we’re delighted she’s chosen to continue her development with us."

Highlighting the potential of the young goalkeeper, Ward added, "She’s a player who comes with great pedigree and potential to be one of the world's best. We’re delighted to have her and we very much look forward to working with her."

Talking about the movem Van Domselaar said, "It’s such a big club and they’re doing really well. I can’t wait to join.”
