Walsall has confirmed the signing of Ryan Stirk, the 22-year-old midfielder, on a two-year contract.

The transfer is scheduled to take place on July 1st, following the end of Stirk's contract with Championship side Birmingham City.

Stirk has a strong track record with previous loan spells in the National League and Sky Bet League Two.

The most recent was with Bromley, where his performance earned him the Player of the Month award twice, and he played a significant role in leading the team to the play-off semi-final.

Prior to Bromley, in the 2021-22 season, Stirk spent time with Mansfield Town in League Two. His contribution included two goals across 36 matches, and he participated in a campaign that ended in the play-offs.

In addition to his experiences with Bromley and Mansfield, Stirk also played in the Championship for Birmingham City, earning seven caps for the Wales Under-21s team.

“I’m delighted to get it done,” Stirk said about the move.

He added that the decision to join Walsall was relatively easy given the club's proximity to his home and young family.

"It’s a great club and I’m looking forward to getting going and working with him [the coach]."

Walsall's Head Coach, Mat Sadler, expressed his satisfaction with the new addition.

"Ryan is the type of player who wants to pass forward, play through the lines, he wants to receive the football and he wants to get on the ball," Sadler stated.

“He’s also a tenacious dog in the way that he works in trying to recover the ball and receive the ball back.

“He adds a little bit of something different with that left foot and balance in the midfield area to compliment what we already have in the building and I want to reiterate – we’re really pleased with what we currently have in the building.

"We are over the line or close on a number of other targets and we are pleased with the overall progress," Sadler concluded.
