Stevenage captain, Carl Piergianni, has accepted a new and enhanced contract with the club, continuing his journey with the team he led to an important milestone in the last season.

Having joined the club in May 2022, Piergianni made his mark as a strong leader, guiding Stevenage to a promotion to the third tier of English football, Sky Bet League One.

This is a feat the club hasn't achieved in twelve years, marking a significant moment in its recent history.

Piergianni's impressive performance on the field during the past season didn't go unnoticed.

He was included in the league's Team of the Season and was nominated for the EFL and PFA League Two Player of the Season awards, both prestigious accolades that highlight his impact on the field.

Adding to his achievements, the centre-back also turned out to be a key asset in terms of scoring.

Piergianni finished the 2022/23 season as Stevenage’s joint-fourth top goal scorer, netting an impressive total of seven goals.

He was also named Stevenage’s 2022/23 Player of the Year, underscoring his pivotal role in the team.
