Galway continued their unrelenting march towards the First Division title with a three one victory at home to Athlone Town, courtesy of David Hurley's penalty, Stephen Walsh's seventh goal of the season and a goal from Killian Brouder.

Frantz Pierrot's second half penalty- his twelth goal of his maiden First Division campaign. Paul Corcoran's report can be read here.

Their nearest rivals Waterford travel to Longford tomorrow to face Stephen Henderson's Midlanders, hoping to cut the gap at the top to ten points.

In third place, eight behind The Blues, remain Bray Wanderers.

The Seagulls hosted Cobh Ramblers at the Carlisle Grounds and a pulsating two all draw meant the Rams remain a point behind Bray. A seventeenth minute Luke Desmond goal opened the scoring for the visitors before his teammate Michael McCarthy deflected a Darren Craven effort past Lee Steacy to tie up the scores.

The hosts snatched the lead as Conor Crowley netted his first league goal for the Wicklow outfit as the hour mark approached.

However, within ten minutes Luke Desmond found the net once again as Ramblers roared back.

Bray forward Ger Shortt was dismissed shortly after and four players were booked in second half injury time but a winner couldn't be found.

There was no such drama in either of the two remaining First Division fixtures as a quartet of goals from Aaron Dobbs saw his become the club's second highest all time scorer and contributed handsomely to a six goal victory over Kerry FC at Mounthawk Park.

Aisling Hannon's report here has a detailed overview of the game.

The final game saw second from bottom Finn Harps travel to Limerick and dish out a three nil defeat to a Treaty United outfit- their second such home defeat in a row following four successive wins.

An early penalty from American Ryan Flood set the Harps on their way before he netted his second of the game as the first half drew to a close.

A late solo goal from debutant  Aaron McLaughlin was the icing on the cake as the Academy product scorched past the Treaty defence in the 93rd minute as Harps scored three league goals in a game for the first time since August last year and moved to within three points of fifth place Athlone Town.
