Irish match official Michelle O’Neill is part of the officiating team for next month’s sold out UEFA Women’s Champions League Final between Barcelona and Wolfsburg.

The game is set for the PSV Stadium in Eindhoven on Saturday 3 June with Welsh referee Cheryl Foster in charge.

O’Neill and Foster have worked together on a number of matches including a Champions League quarter-final last season and most recently in the Women’s Super League. In April they were in charge of Spurs against Brighton in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and last week the Everton and Arsenal game.

Both the Wexford native and Welshwomen are part of the panel of officials for this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. O’Neill is one of 55 assistant referees for the tournament, with Foster part of the panel of 33 referees.

O’Neill has worked previously at two Women’s World Cups, the Tokyo Olympics and ran the line in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.

She was also part of an all-women’s refereeing team, led by France’s Stephanie Frappart, who took charge of the 2019 UEFA Super Cup when Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side defeated Chelsea on penalties in Istanbul.

UEFA also confirmed that English referee Anthony Taylor will take charge of the Europa League Final between Sevilla and Roma in the Puskas Arena in Budapest on Wednesday 31 May.

The Europa Conference League Final between Fiorentina and West Ham will have Spanish referee Carlos del Cerro Grande in charge for that game in Prague’s Eden Arena on Wednesday 7 June.

The top job of officiating the Champions League Final has been awarded to Polish whistler Szymon Marciniakto. Manchester City and Inter Milan will face off in the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Türkiye, on Saturday 10 June.
