Ireland under-21 defender Sean Roughan offered deal to stay at League One Lincoln City

Former Drogheda United defender Sean Roughan has been offered a new deal to stay with League One side Lincoln City.

Roughan, 19, was a key man for the Imps during the recently finished 2022/23 campaign having been on loan at Drogheda during the first half of the 2022 campaign.

But following the appointment of Mark Kennedy as first-team boss, the Dubliner has thrived under the former Ireland international at Sincil Bank.

However, his current deal is set to expire at the end of June – although the Imps have offered the player a deal to remain at the club.

Should Roughan remain at the club he would link up with a host of Irish players there for the 2023/24 English league season.

Former UCD attacker Dylan Duffy, ex Shamrock Rovers star Daniel Mandroiu and Paudie O’Connor (previously of Limerick) are all at the club and are signed up for next season.

Ireland under-19 international Oisin Gallagher is also set to remain at the club for another year, while on-loan League of Ireland trio Jay Benn, Freddie Draper and Elicha Ahui are also still under contract.

Former Drogheda United keeper Sam Long also remains under contract at the club.
