Roberto De Zerbi vows to help Evan Ferguson become one of the 'strongest strikers in Europe'

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi has vowed to help Ireland striker Evan Ferguson become one of the ‘strongest strikers’ in Europe.

Italian boss De Zerbi and Brighton tied Ferguson down to a long-term deal with the Seagulls on Tuesday evening, keeping him there until the end of the 2027/28 season.

The former Bohs striker has been a revelation at the Amex Stadium this season and has established himself as a key man in Brighton’s rise this term.

And De Zerbi has been central to that by giving the Co Meath teenager his first run of games in the Premier League since he joined the club in January 2021.

His contract extension also sees him commit to the Seagulls alongside his Irish counterpart Andrew Moran who penned a deal that keeps him at the club until 2027 on Monday.

“Evan’s contract extension is great news,” Ferguson’s club boss De Zerbi said.

“He trains and plays like a senior player with many years of experience and has become an important member of the squad.

“The aim is to help him become one of the strongest strikers in Europe.”
