League Preview: Galway United -v- Bohemians

GALWAY UNITED

Galway United will be looking to claim their first ever Women’s Premier Division points at home when they host Bohemians at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday, (kick-off 2pm).

Phil Trill’s young side have started the season well in their opening two games, they very nearly held Wexford Youths to a scoreless draw on the first day of the season only for Ciara Rossiter to score late on.

Last week they made the trip to Turners Cross to face Cork City – Jenna Slattery claimed the honour of being Galway United’s first ever goal scorer in Women’s Premier Division history when she scored the winning goal last weekend to give the Tribeswomen their first three points.

If United play the way they have played in their opening two games they stand a great chance at claiming more points on Saturday afternoon.

BOHEMIANS

The Gypsies will be pleased to have a win under their belt already this season having narrowly defeated Treaty United on the first day of the season thanks to a Rachel Doyle goal.

They will be less thrilled with another Northside Derby loss – with a 2-0 defeat at home to Shelbourne last weekend at Dalymount Park.

A Jessie Stapleton brace in the first half was enough to see the Reds claim victory once again as the two rivals met last weekend.

They will be looking to add to their points tally when they travel to Eamonn Deacy Park this weekend – but they will know that Galway will be a tough team to break down given their performance against Wexford Youths on the opening day of the season.

Bohs will have to get through the game without manager Sean Byrne on the sideline – the coach was sent off during his side’s game against Shels last weekend and he’ll have to watch the next three games from the stands as per the FAI’s latest suspension list.

Referee: Daryl Carolan

MATCH STATS

This will be the first meeting between the side, with Galway Untied entering the Women’s Premier Division for the first time this season.

Both sides have a goal apiece after the opening two games, Rachel Doyle was on the scoresheet for Bohs in their win against Treaty United on the opening day of the season, while Jenna Slattery scored to give Galway a win over Cork City last weekend.

Slattery’s goal last weekend is the first in Galway United’s history.
