Extratime.com staff predictions - Premier Division 2023

It’s that time of the year again, the League of Ireland Premier Division season is upon us with the first games set to kick off on Friday night.

With the start of the season this week comes the annual extratime.com staff predictions as we attempt to predict the outcome of the top flight once again.

Last year we correctly predicted that Shamrock Rovers would claim the 2022 Premier Division title as well as the placement of the bottom two teams Finn Harps and UCD.

However, we tipped UCD for automatic relegation with Harps reaching the play-off – and the opposite took place as the Students survived via the play-off.

But for 2023 we have predicted that Derry City will halt Shamrock Rovers quest for a fourth league title in a row.

We also believe that Dundalk and St Patrick’s Athletic will battle it out for third and fourth – with Bohemians fifth. Sligo and Shelbourne are expected to finish ahead of newly-promoted Cork City.

UCD are expected to suffer automatic relegation from the Premier Division with Drogheda United predicted to face the relegation playoff with a ninth place finish.

Let us know what you think.
