It’s that time of the year again, finally the League of Ireland Premier Division season is upon us with the first games set to kick off on Friday night.

With the start of the season this week comes the annual extratime.com staff predictions as we attempt to predict the outcome of the top flight once again.

Last year we correctly predicted that Shamrock Rovers would claim the 2021 Premier Division title as well as the placement of the bottom two teams Waterford and Longford Town who were relegated to the First Division.

For 2022 we have once again predicted that Shamrock Rovers will win the Premier Division for what will be their third title in a row, if our prediction is correct.

Derry City have been slated for an improved second place finish with St Patrick’s Athletic, Bohemians and Dundalk rounding out the top half of the table.

UCD are expected to suffer automatic relegation from the Premier Division with Finn Harps predicted to face the relegation playoff with a ninth place finish.

Let us know what you think.
