Extratime.ie Key Man: Jack Doherty

Linking up with the Rams following a fruitful spell at Wexford, Jack Doherty will be key to any success Shane Keegan’s side have this season.

The attacking outlet has established himself as one of the best talents in the second-tier over the last number of years while at Ferrycarrig Park.

But he will be aware that he has a lot to do in order to change the fortunes of the Rams at St Colman’s Park.

Ramblers have languished at the foot of the table for the last two years – but with Doherty they may start creeping up the table again.

Extratime.ie One to Watch: Wilson Waweru

A rather surprising loan signing, striker Wilson Waweru will be hopeful that he can hit the ground running in East Cork this season.

And with Doherty as the creative force starring behind him Waweru can thrive again in the second-tier.

But he will have to find his scoring boots once more – having scored just three league goals for Galway United last season.

However, a return to regular first-team football and minutes should change that statistic very soon.

What to expect this season:

With new boss Keegan headed into his first full season in charge of the club, the Rams have added to their squad.

With the aforementioned Doherty and Waweru they have one of the most potent attacks in the First Division.

And having unveiled the signing of Lee Steacy from Drogheda United they have added some much needed experience to a relatively young squad.

A charge towards the play-offs will undoubtedly be an aim for Cobh this season, but they will be up against some quality opposition in their quest to do so.

As a result, if Keegan’s side can manage to creep in and secure a play-off berth, it would be a brilliant achievement.

But if they don’t, a move away from the foot of the table would be a signal of progress.

First Game: Away to Kerry, February 17th, Mounthawk Park (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
