Cork City’s manager Colin Healy has announced his latest re-signing ahead of the 2023 season with Gordon Walker returning for another campaign.

City had a successful campaign last year in which they won the First Division title and promotion back to the Premier Division. They have been very proactive in retaining the core element of the side for the season ahead. Cover in a number of positions is vital to be able to compete at a higher level.

This is why it was important to sign Walker. The 23-year-old academy graduate signed for a second spell from UCC to help bolster City in the full-back positions.

He had been a mainstay in the side during the 2021 campaign, but a serious injury in pre-season caused him to miss most of last year. He returned just before the end as City secured their position back in the top flight.

Speaking with CorkCityFC.ie, the versatile defender said “Last season for was great for the club, obviously, as we gained promotion which was the aim at the start of the season. For me personally it was frustrating as I missed much of the season. I am very keen to get back in pre-season and nail down a spot in the team. The fans were incredible last season and I know they’ll be right behind us again this season”

The Leesiders kick off their season with a home game against Bohemians on 17th of February.
