LOI transfer wrap: Ciaran Coll pens new Derry City deal

Derry City have confirmed the re-signing of full-back Ciaran Coll ahead of the 2023 campaign.

Coll will now head into his fifth season at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium after penning a 12-month contract extension.

The former Finn Harps defender returns to the Candystripes after Ruaidhri Higgins’ side claimed the FAI Cup in 2022.

“Ruaidhri has put together a fantastic squad at the club and competition for places is fierce,” Coll said after signing.

“It was great to finish last season with a trophy and while we enjoyed the celebrations, we’ll back in pre-season soon and focused on going again.”

“I’m delighted to be part of it and like all the lads I’ll be working as hard as I can for my place.”

The full-back joins former Ireland under-21 international Colm Whelan in committing to the 2023 season on the banks of the Foyle.

Cork City have also confirmed the signing of St Patrick’s Athletic forward Tunde Owolabi.

“I am really happy to be joining Cork City,” he said.

“They had a very impressive season last year, winning the First Division, and there is a really positive feeling around the club at the moment.”

Meanwhile, Athlone Town have confirmed the re-signing of youngster Oisin Duffy.

Duffy re-signs for Dermot Lennon’s side off the back of an impressive end to the 2022 campaign at the Co. Westmeath club.

He joins Adam Lennon, Patrick Hickey, Enda Minogue, Charles Mutawe, Aaron Connolly, Velerii Dolia, Aaron McBride and Vlad Velikin at the club for the season ahead.

Elsewhere, Treaty United have confirmed the departure of Conor Melody – just a day after they confirmed the exit of Callum McNamara and Jack Brady.
