Athlone Town have announced the signing of Thomas Oluwa ahead of the League of Ireland First Division season.

The striker joins Martin Russell’s side having been without a club for a brief period after being released by Norther Irish club Larne earlier this year.

Oluwa began his career with Shamrock Rovers’ academy in 2018 and went on to make appearances for both the first team and Shamrock Rovers II before departing the club for Bohemians ahead of the 2021 season.

The 21 year old joined Galway United midway through the 2021 season for a brief spell before joining Larne in August.

Athlone begin their season at home to Waterford on Friday, 18 February (kick-off 7.45pm).
