Glentoran manager Mick McDermott has confirmed that Ciaran O’ Connor has joined Warrenpoint Town on loan until the end of the season.

Dundalk born O’Connor has been out of action since October with a broken foot and Glen’s manager McDermott feels that a return to Milltown for the midfielder will help him get back playing regularly again before returning to the Oval at the end of the season.

McDermott told the club’s media team: “He has been very unlucky to be out with a long-term injury, and after his rehab he should return to play his part for Warrenpoint before returning to us for the start of next season.”

Warrenpoint manager Barry Gray is delighted to have the 25- year- old back at Milltown.

Speaking to his club’s media officer during the week, Gray said, “Ciaran is a player I have worked with before at Warrenpoint when we took him on loan from Dundalk, he is a player I have always admired, and I think he will be a valuable addition to us in the second half of the season.

“Ciaran Is currently rehabbing an ankle injury so we may not have him available for a period, however I have no doubt that as soon as he is fully match fit, he will be hungry to get into the team and help us fight.”

Coincidentally O’Connor’s brother Michael is a new arrival at the Oval having joined Glentoran from Shelbourne after his release from the Reds at the end of the League of Ireland season.
