Galway WFC have appointed Alan Murphy as the club’s new manager ahead of the 2022 Women’s National League campaign.

Murphy has previous management experience at senior level having managed Galway United for two years previously.

The Mayo native took over the Tribesmen midway through the 2018 season after Shane Keegan’s departure and was replaced by John Caulfield during the 2020 season.

Stephen Lally who had been in charge of Galway WFC for much of the 2021 season will still be involved with the club having been appointed to the role of player and coach development director.

In a statement the club said, “this investment comes about as a result of a very successful second half of the 2021 season where Stephen Lally showed us what could be achieved by this group of young players.

“The club hopes that this bolstering of structures will allow Galway Women’s drive forward and challenge for honours in the 2022 season.”

The club has also announced that Phil Trill will work with the first team as a coach after a successful period as the club’s academy manager which saw their under-19 team claim the league and cup double this past season.

Alana Moran will take over the role of academy manager.
