First Division champions Shelbourne have announced the signing of Shane Griffin as they prepare for their return to the Premier Division in 2022.

The 27 year old moves across Dublin City from FAI Cup winners St Patrick’s Athletic to join Damien Duff’s Reds for next season.

“I’m very excited to get started at Shels and work under Damien and his staff,” Griffin said, speaking to the club’s website.

“Damien has good ideas and ambitions for the club and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

The defender has previously played for Reading and Cork City, winning a Premier Division and FAI Cup with the latter during his time at Turners Cross.

Speaking about his new signing Shels manager Damien Duff said, “Shane is a fantastic signing for the club. He has a wealth of experience in the league and knows how to win games & trophies.

“Shane has brilliant quality, can play in numerous positions and is a top professional. He will greatly compliment the youth we have in the squad.”
