Longford Town announce departure of manager Daire Doyle
Longford Town have announced the departure of manager Daire Doyle by mutual consent.
Assistant manager John Martin has been appointed interim manager for the remainder of the 2021 League of Ireland season.
Doyle had been with Longford since 2018 when he became assistant manager to Neale Fenn, he then made the step up to take charge of the team when Fenn left for Cork City in August 2019.
He guided the club to promotion in 2020 with a victory in the playoffs over Shelbourne last November which meant De Town would play in the Premier Division for the first time since 2016.
Longford were relegated with six games to go in this year’s Premier Division, and they currently have just two wins from their 33 games played so far this season.
Doyle took charge of Longford for the last time on Monday night with the side falling to a 1-0 defeat to Sligo Rovers.
After meeting with our club today,we couldn't agree on a way forward so we decided it would be best to part ways. I've loved my time @LongfordTownFC, a fantastic club with great people & supporters.Thank you for my time as manager.I can't wait for the next opportunity & challenge
