Evan Ferguson makes Ireland under-21 debut in 2-0 win away to Bosnia

Jim Crawford’s Ireland under-21 side secured a pivotal 2-0 win away from home against Bosnia in their European Qualifier.

Goals from Tyreik Wright and Conor Coventry gave the Boys in Green a deserved win as Evan Ferguson came on to make his under-21 debut.

The Boys in Green took an early second-half lead through Wright as the Corkonian netted a well-taken penalty.

Joshua Kayode was taken down by a Bosnian defender before Wright made no mistake from the spot with a superb finish.

Bray Wanderers keeper Brian Maher was also called into action to deny the hosts from a set-piece.

But the ever-impressive keeper was on hand to deny a Bosnian side who were quickly running out of ideas.

And it was then 2-0 shortly after as Conor Coventry finished off a set-piece routine to ensure a valuable three points.

Gavin Kilkenny’s short corner found Derby County midfielder Louie Watson who then laid the ball off into the path of Coventry who found the back of the net.

Jim Crawford’s side take on Luxembourg next in the European qualifiers.
