Cork City have announced the departure of Republic of Ireland international Éabha O’Mahony as she leaves the Rebels to begin a scholarship at Boston College in the United States.

O’Mahony will be lining out in the maroon and gold of the Eagles in the Atlantic Coast Conference of the NCAA Division One women’s college soccer competition.

There won’t be much time for O’Mahony to rest with the Eagles playing friendlies on Saturday, 7 August and Thursday, 12 August before their season gets underway properly against Iona on Thursday 19 August.

The Rebels have also announced the departure of goalkeeper Maria O’Sullivan who re-joined Cork briefly this summer on her return from America but she is set to go back to Fordham University for her sophomore year.

It’s been all change for Paul Farrell’s side with Lauren Egbuloniu and Sophie Liston moving to America in recent weeks to take up scholarships with Louisiana Tech and Seton Hall University respectively.

Cork City are back in action in the Women’s National League on Saturday when they host Peamount United at Turners Cross (kick-off 2pm).
