Drogheda United’s Tim Clancy and Kevin Doherty have put pen to paper on new contracts at the club for two more years.

Clancy and Doherty have been instrumental in Drogheda’s upturn in fortunes since 2018, culminating in their lofty league position in the Premier Division.

“Things are going really well this year, we’re hoping we can build on that next year,” Clancy told Drogheda’s media team after signing his new deal.

“We’ve a young team, if we can keep all the lads, we have and add a bit more to the squad, which we’re looking into next year, then there’ll be exciting times ahead.

“It’s the perfect place for myself to be at the moment, I love it here and I’m not looking to go anywhere. I advised them to get a deal sorted and it’ll keep me here for the next two seasons.”

Drogheda United chairman Conor Hoey added: “Tim has proven himself to be the top young manager in the league.

“He’s going to go on to have a huge career in management, but in the meantime, we are delighted he’s staying with Drogheda, and I’m sure all the players will be delighted too.”
