Derry City have unveiled the pre-contract signing of Patrick McEleney when his current deal with Dundalk expires.

The 28-year-old is a former Derry City player, and has also worked with current Derry boss Ruaidhri Higgins at Oriel Park.

McEleney’s return to the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium will see him put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the 2023 season.

In a statement issued by the Candystripes, they said that enquiries have already been made to bring McEleney back to Foyleside during this transfer window.

Although, no agreement has been reached as of yet.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Patrick again and we are delighted to be bringing one of the best players in the country back to his hometown club” Higgins told his club’s media team.
