18-year-old Sligo Rovers forward Johnny Kenny scored a hat-trick for the Bit O’Red this evening in a stunning 4-0 win over Bohemians.

The result sends Sligo level on points at the top of the table with Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick’s Athletic after 18 games.

Sligo started the better of the two and took the lead through Kenny who slotted home after pouncing on a James Talbot parry into his path.

Kenny was on hand to coolly dispatch the rebounded effort on across Talbot and into the bottom corner.

The impressive young forward then doubled his side’s lead in the 22nd minute as his shot deflected in off Rob Cornwall after a Lewis Banks cross into the penalty area.

Sligo would then make it three through the industrious Ryan de Vries after he raced through on goal to score past Talbot.

And Kenny then finally got his third late on as he picked up on Jordan Gibson’s through ball before finding the back of the net to ensure a magical night for the youngster and the 100 Sligo fans in attendance at the Showgrounds.
