League Preview: Treaty United -v- Galway United

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United will be looking to keep pace with league leaders Shelbourne on Friday evening when they welcome Galway United to the Market’s Field (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

Treaty also come into the game after securing a big 2-0 win over Cobh Ramblers last time out.

And that win brought Treaty back to within eight points of the Reds after Ian Morris’ side went 11 clear at the top of the table on the Friday night.

“The start to the season is probably something we would have not imagined,” Barrett reflected after last week’s win over Cobh.

“That could easily change. You can easily go from second to seventh or eighth if you lost a couple of games in a row. This division is so tight.

“All we have to worry about is our next game.”

GALWAY UNITED

Galway United will be looking to build on last weekend’s big win over Cabinteely as they take on Treaty United in a Mid-West derby.

They drew with Treaty the last time they met at Eamonn Deacy Park – and their manager John Caulfield is aware of the challenge his team faces.

“We know how difficult this game will be against a tough, experienced side,” Caulfield told the club’s media team.

“I know a lot of their players really well. A number of them played for Galway United before. They are very strong from set-pieces, and they don’t give away goals. This will be a huge test for us.

“It was a pleasing performance last week, we kept a clean sheet and we got a fantastic goal. Hopefully after two strong performances since the break, we can drive on now into a really tough fixture this week.

“We have done a lot of work since the break and thankfully in the last couple of weeks, the performances have been much more consistent.

“We look much more like the team I believe we can be. It is still only two games and the season has a long way to go.”

In terms of team news, Francely Lomboto and Ronan Manning remain out of action due to long-term injuries.

Stephen Walsh returns after a three-game suspension while Carlton Ubaezuonu is back in training after a short-term injury and is available for this week’s game.

Referee: Kevin O’Sullivan.
