Leinster Senior League side Bangor GG snap up two-time First Division winner Derek Prendergast

Leinster Senior League side Bangor GG have confirmed the signing of central defender Derek Prendergast ahead of their upcoming campaign.

Prendergast, now 36, joins Bangor GG having played for Bangor Celtic before joining Bray Wanderers in 2010.

During his League of Ireland career, Prendergast played in the Premier Division for the aforementioned Seagulls, Drogheda and Bohemians before joining Shelbourne ahead of the 2017 season.

While at Tolka Park, Prendergast helped the Reds to top-flight promotion in 2019, and was also part of their Leinster Senior Cup winning exploits of 2018.

He then returned to Drogheda ahead of the 2020 season – and helped them to their own First Division title.

While at United Park, the central defender made 16 appearances on their way to the title.

He now joins Bangor GG who have also recruited former League of Ireland goalkeeper Tom Murphy – formerly of UCD and Wexford.
