Longford Town loanee Aaron Bolger will depart Cardiff City at the end of his current contract at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The 21-year-old joined the Bluebirds from Shamrock Rovers in February 2019 – before then returning home for intermittent loan stints at Tallaght Stadium.

The Co. Wicklow native played with Shamrock Rovers II last season – and made 11 appearances last season for the Hoops’ second-string.

He then joined Longford ahead of the start of the 2021 season – and has made 11 appearances for the Red and Black to date.

He made his debut for the club on the opening day of the season, when Town saw off Derry City by two goals to nil at Bishopsgate.

The former Republic of Ireland under-19 international captained Cardiff’s under-23s previously but never made the breakthrough to the club’s senior side.

Bolger departs the club along with Roland Idowu who, like the former Shamrock Rovers midfielder, played for St Joseph’s Boys during his youth.

Idowu was previously with Southampton before joining Cardiff ahead of the 2020/21 season.

But the 19-year-old has not been kept on at the Cardiff City Stadium ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Elsewhere in the UK, Oisin McEntee has been offered a new deal at Newcastle United, while Stoke City striker Ethon Varian was also offered a new deal at his club.
