Cork City manager Colin Healy has confirmed that winger Cory Galvin has left the club by mutual consent.

Galvin joined Cork City from Waterford in January of 2020 but has only featured twice for the Leesiders since the start of the 2021 campaign.

“Colin Healy confirmed today in his weekly press conference that Cory Galvin has left the club by mutual consent,” read a club statement.

“Everyone at the club would like to wish Cory all the best for the future.”

He started on the left side of midfield in their opening match of the season, a 2-1 home win over neighbours Cobh Ramblers, and was substituted after 58 minutes for Alec Byrne.

In City’s next game away to Cabinteely, which they lost 1-0, he started on the bench but came on as a 62nd minute substitute for Jack Baxter.

Galvin was an unused substitute in City’s next two games, at home to Athlone Town and Shelbourne, but did not make the match day squad for any of their last four matches.

25-year-old Galvin played across the water with Ipswich Town’s under-18s, along with his brother Evan, during Mick McCarthy’s reign as manager in the 2015/16 season.

The twins returning to Ireland and signed for Waterford FC. Cory had spells at Cobh Ramblers, Cabinteely and Bray Wanderers before re-joining Waterford for a second spell in July 2018.
