ATHLONE TOWN

Athlone Town will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2021 season when they welcome Cabinteely to Lissywoolen on Friday evening (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

Adrian Carberry’s side have impressed so far this year – and their latest win at home to Wexford came as another welcome boost.

New signing Shane Barnes scored off the bench to score for his new employer last weekend as they compounded Wexford’s woes.

The Blue and Black of the Midlands could not have asked for a better start to the season, but their manager Carberry will be acutely that is all it is – a start.

In terms of team news – Athlone have not issued any. But they do not have any players carrying a suspension into this game against Cabinteely.

CABINTEELY

Cabinteely will be looking to put two consecutive defeats behind them when they visit Athlone Town on Friday evening.

Last time out Cabo were defeated by three goals to one at the expense of title hopefuls Shelbourne.

However, despite defeat, the Green and White’s saw Jem Campion score his first senior goal for the club – and their manager Pat Devlin is expecting a tough challenge.

“Athlone are a really good side; they’ve played really well so far this year. They’ve made some exceptionally good signings. So, they will be up for it,” he said.

Devlin added: “We’re going down there to do our best. It’s going to be a tough game for us.”

Cabinteely’s record appearance holder Kevin Knight is suspended. Defender Andy O’Brien (knee) and goalkeeper Peter Quinlan (knee) are out injured.

Referee: Alan Carey.
