The 2021 President's Cup Final between League of Ireland champions Shamrock Rovers and FAI Cup holders Dundalk is set for Friday 12 March (kick-off 7.45pm).

Following a draw to decide the home team, the match will take place at Tallaght Stadium.

Last season the final was fixed for Oriel Park between Dundalk and Rovers but was postponed due to adverse weather and not re-fixed.

Dundalk have lifted the trophy on two occasions but this will be the first time that Rovers are making an appearance in the now traditional curtain raiser for the new senior men’s domestic season.

President Michael D. Higgins put his name to the competition in 2014 reflecting his keen interest in the game here (he even has his own extratime.com profile!).

Before President Higgins took up the highest office in the land, he was President of Galway United Football Club and was a member of the board at the club.
