Glenavon snap up former St Mochta’s duo and Calvin Douglas from Usher Celtic

Danske Bank Premiership side Glenavon have unveiled the signings of Gareth McCaffrey, Craig Hyland and Calvin Douglas ahead of the final few months of the season.

Both McCaffrey and Hyland join Glenavon from FAI Intermediate Cup holders St Mochta’s, while Douglas joins from Usher Celtic.

McCaffrey scored 30 goals for Mochta’s during the 2019/20 Leinster Senior League campaign, while Hyland played an important role between the sticks for Brian McCarthy’s side.

Both players have previously played in the League of Ireland. McCaffrey is formerly of Athlone Town, Drogheda United and Shamrock Rovers.

Hyland on the other hand is also formerly of Rovers (where he played 60 competitive games for the Hoops) and Longford Town.

Meanwhile, Douglas is a former Athlone Town player – having played for the club for half of the 2016 campaign.

The Mourneview Park side were due to face Glentoran yesterday. However, their game was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Gary Hamilton’s side currently find themselves in 8th position in the Danske Bank Premiership. They have won two of their previous five league games.
