Athlone Town snap up former Dundalk and Longford Town defender Dylan Hand

First Division Athlone Town have signed former Dundalk and Longford Town central defender Dylan Hand ahead of the 2021 season.

Hand helped his now former club Longford to top-flight promotion in 2020 via the playoffs.

While at Bishopsgate, the 21-year-old made 14 appearances for the club.

However, the Athboy native struggled to nail down a place in Longford’s starting XI during the playoffs.

He made 13 starts for De Town during the previous campaign, and he came off the bench in one of the games.

He of course joined Longford from Dundalk – where he found game-time limited under then Lilywhite boss Vinny Perth.

Dylan played for Drogheda United's under-17 squad for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Moved to Dundalk in 2016 as a member of their under-19 squad.

He then moved across the water to Chesterfield before returning to Dundalk's under-19 team in August 2018. Vinny Perth then signed him to his first pro contract in February 2019.
