Athlone Town snap up Micheal Schlingermann from Galway United

First Division Athlone Town have unveiled the signature of goalkeeper Micheal Schlingermann ahead of the 2021 season.

Schlingermann joins Adrian Carberry’s side after a recent stint with Galway United under both Alan Murphy and John Caulfield.

The goalkeeper played in the Tribesmen’s 2-1 play-off defeat at the hands of Longford Town in the First Division final of the series.

The former Sligo Rovers shot-stopper had a prior stint at Lissywoolen, playing for the Co. Westmeath side during the 2010 and ’11 season.

He has also played for Monaghan United and Drogheda United during his time away from Athlone Town.

While at Athlone initially, the goalkeeper made 42 league appearances for the club.
