Watch: Dundalk fall to Europa League defeat in Norway

Dundalk fell to their fifth Europa League Group Stage defeat on the spin this evening with a 3-1 loss against Molde.

Filippo Giovagnoli’s side had to deal without their boss this evening – but they can have few complaints about their defeat.

Jordan Flores' late strike proved to be a mere consolation for Dundalk who must now look to bounce back in Sunday’s FAI Cup Final against Shamrock Rovers at the Aviva Stadium.

The Lilywhites fell behind on the half-hour mark as Magnus Wolff Eikrem headed home at the near post.

Wolff Eikrem’s opener arrived as a result of some good Molde play, with the ex-Cardiff City star nodding home a Birk Risa cross.

And their task got even greater four minutes before the half-time whistle as Ohi Omoijuanfo also scored with his head.

Risa was the provider once more in the 41st minute as he found Omojiuanfo who turned home the full-back’s cross.

Their set-piece deficiencies were further found in the second half as Marton Ellingsen headed home through the legs of Gary Rogers.

Ellingsen got on the end of a Wolff Eikrem corner-kick to seal a comfortable win for the Norwegians.

But Flores did score in injury time from outside the penalty area - firing his shot into the top corner of the Molde net.
