Derry City loanee Stephen Mallon has left the club to return to his parent side Sheffield United.

Mallon leaves the Candystripes after making 14 appearances for the club during the truncated 2020 league campaign.

“(I) want to wish everyone at Derry City FC all the very best,” Mallon said this evening.

“My loan period has expired, unfortunately I never got to show you all my best. Massive thanks to Decky, Paddy, the staff, my teammates and the fans for the opportunity and support.

“I’m grateful for the experience.”

The Belfast-born winger Mallon signed for Sheffield United in 2017. In 2019 he spent time on loan with Central Coast Mariners in Australian.

On January 10th, 2020, he signed for Derry City ahead of the 2020 Premier Division campaign. In July, his loan was extended until the end of the season.
