Who could Dundalk face in the Europa League Group Stages?

By no means was last night a vintage Dundalk display – but it was a success nonetheless as the Lilywhites reached the Europa League Group Stages.

Filippo Giovagnoli’s side came through as 3-1 winners over KI Klaksvik – with goals from Sean Murray and Daniel Cleary setting them on their way.

However, there was concerns, albeit briefly, as KI halved the deficit in the 66th minute thanks to Ole Erik Midtskogen’s long-range strike that halved the deficit.

However, Daniel Kelly made the game safe in the 79th minute as he broke through to score on the counter-attack.

The Lilywhites have now become the first Irish side to reach the Europa League Group Stages twice.

There was a thought process following the aftermath of last night’s game that Spurs was a preferred option to face in the group stages, and they may very well face Jose Mourinho’s side.

Dundalk have been placed in Pot Four of the draw, and they will be drawn against a side from each of the three pots ahead of them.

However, there is a stipulation that clubs from the same country cannot be drawn together as the draw takes place at 12pm today.
