Scottish Premiership Round-up: Shane Duffy marks Celtic debut with fine goal

Shane Duffy began his Celtic career with a goal, the Derryman’s header came during a 5-0 thrashing of Ross County in Dingwall.

A penalty from Odsonne Edouard and a strike from Albian Ajeti gave Celtic a two goal lead before Duffy found their third.

The powerfully headed effort came from a corner delivered by Callum McGregor, leaving keeper Ross Laidlaw with little chance of keeping it out.

Goals from Ajer and Klimala sealed the emphatic win for Celtic.

Duffy said afterwards it was a “good game overall”.

“First game, starting to get to know the lads as well and getting to know how they play, so I’ll learn from it.”

Rangers delivered a drubbing of their own, a 4-0 victory over Dundee United at Ibrox. Goals from Kent, Tavernier, Roofe and Arfield keep Rangers at the top of the pile in Scotland.

Remarkably after seven league games they are yet to concede a single goal.

Hibernian have also continued their strong start to the season with a 3-0 victory over St. Mirren.

Hibs were two up little over a quarter of an hour into the game, before Martin Boyle grabbed their third at the hour mark.

Aberdeen also kept up the pressure on other clubs at the top thanks to a one nil win at home to Kilmarnock.

A goal from Rangers-loanee Ross McCrorie gave The Dons all three points.

Elsewhere there were victories for Motherwell and Hamilton over St. Johnstone and Livingston respectively.
