Former Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan joins English Championship side Wycombe Wanderers

Republic of Ireland international Daryl Horgan has joined recently promoted English Championship side Wycombe Wanderers.

The League One play-off winners have signed Horgan on a two-year deal after he spent a couple of seasons with Scottish Premiership side Hibernian.

The 28-year-old spent two successful years at Easter Road he made an impact with the Hibs faithful – famously scoring twice against Hearts in the Edinburgh derby. He now returns to the Championship after previous spell with Preston North End.

“I’m disappointed to lose him but it’s a good opportunity for Daryl and his family. I wish them all the luck in the world,” Hibernian boss Jack Ross told his club’s media team.

His new manager at Wycombe Gareth Ainsworth added: “Daryl is someone we’ve kept an eye on ever since he put in that outstanding performance against us and we believe he’s ideally suited to the way we play.

“He’s quick, he’s direct, he loves to run at the defence and he’s got a strong goal threat in terms of scoring and creating chances for his team-mates.

“I’m excited to see what he can do for us and his arrival gives us extra firepower going forward as we look to forward to starting on the front foot in the Championship in ten days’ time.”
