Scottish Premiership Round-Up: Celtic bounce back after European disappointment

Rangers have moved three points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership following a 2-0 victory away to Hamilton.

Two early goals from Ianis Hagi and James Tavernier secured all three points for the Ibrox club.

Hamilton manager Brian Rice was focused on the positives from the clash, saying “we could have capitulated but we stuck at it.

“We showed them too much respect and were too deep. We addressed that at half-time and you saw a different performance in the second half.”

The win means Rangers have now pulled away from second-place Hibernian, whose hopes of remaining unbeaten were undone by a first-half Lewis Ferguson penalty.

The one goal victory catapults Aberdeen from eighth to fourth in the table.

Hibs remain in second, though the gap between them and Celtic has now been cut to three points.

Celtic were comfortable 3-0 winners against Motherwell at Parkhead.

Manager Neil Lennon needed a big response from his players after crashing out of Champions league qualifying midweek.

Goals from Forrest, Ajeti and Jullien will now give Hoops supporters revived optimism that their ten-in-a-row bid is still very much alive.

Motherwell remain bottom of the league table.

Kilmarnock were comfortable 4-0 winners over Dundee United, ending a ten match winless run.

Elsewhere there were 1-0 victories for Livingston against Ross County and St. Johnstone against St. Mirren.
