League Preview: Athlone Town -v- Shamrock Rovers II

ATHLONE TOWN

Athlone will be hoping to record their first win of the 2020 First Division season when they welcome Shamrock Rovers II to the Athlone Town Stadium on Friday (kick off 7.45pm).

Adrian Carberry’s side’s last outing came against UCD on Monday at the UCD Bowl.

Lee Duffy gave Athlone the lead after 20 minutes and they must have thought they were heading for all three points when UCD’s Michael Gallagher was sent-off just before half time.

However, a brace from Students forward Yoyo Mahdy destroyed Carberry’s side’s hopes as UCD went onto win 2-1.

SHAMROCK ROVERS II

Rovers II will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday night’s defeat to Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds.

Ryan Graydon’s strike after 20 minutes at the Wicklow venue condemned Aidan Price’s side to their fourth defeat of the season.

Price will be hoping that his side can reproduce the form that helped his side beat Wexford and earn draws with Drogheda United and Galway United.
