Declan Devine signs one year contract extension with Derry City

Declan Devine has signed a new contract extension with Derry City.

The agreement will keep the City boss at the Brandywell until October of 2021.

Devine’s contract was due to expire in October this year and due to the hectic fixture list as a result of covid-19, the club felt it was important to act now.

After the announcement, Devine spoke of his delight and spoke about how he’s looking forward to continuing the work that he’s started at the Brandywell.

“I said recently that I set out to do a job here and I intended to see it through and I’m delighted to have the trust of the Chairman and the Board,” Devine told derrycityfc.net.

“I love managing Derry City and along with the rest of the management team we have put so much work into moving the club forward.

“There is still much more to be done but we are intent on building a team and a club that is capable of challenging with the best of them.”

The 46-year-old also put on record his thanks to the City board and the people of Derry.

“I want to thank Philip and the Board for their trust and assure Derry City supporters that as a group we will do everything in our power to bring success to the Brandywell.”

City will be looking to get back to winning ways after a defeat to Shamrock Rovers and a draw with Shelbourne this Friday when they welcome Cork City to the Brandywell.
