Athlone add two more to 2020 squad

Athlone Town have added two more players to their squad ahead of the First Division restart on Friday night.

Dundalk’s American midfielder Taner Dogan has signed on loan from Dundalk for the remainder of the season, while the experienced Lee Duffy also links up with Adrian Carberry’s side.

Duffy has previously lined out for Shelbourne, Drogheda United, Longford Town and Wexford before moving to the Northern Irish league where he played for Warrenpoint Town and Newry City.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have signed for Athlone Town as I have been training with the lads for the past few weeks and that has made the decision to sign with the club very easy,” Duffy told the club’s media team.

“I can’t wait to get going on Friday and I’m looking forward to getting back out on the pitch and having a good season.”

Dogan has played NCAA Division One soccer with Harvard University for four years before coming to Ireland after graduating to join the Lillywhites.

After appearing in a couple of friendlies earlier this month for Dundalk the American could get his first taste of first team football in the League of Ireland this weekend.

Athlone Town take on Wexford in their first game back after the restart (kick-off 7.45pm).
