Ireland set for October playoff against Slovakia as UEFA confirm details of rescheduled international matches

The Republic of Ireland are due to face Slovakia in their EURO 2020 play-off semi-final on October 8th after UEFA confirmed details of the rescheduled European qualifiers.

The continental governing body also said that the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League will begin in September.

That means that Stephen Kenny will begin his reign as Ireland boss with a clash away to Bulgaria on September 3rd.

The former Longford Town and Dundalk boss will also see his side face Finland at the Aviva Stadium in September.

Should Ireland see past Slovakia in October, a potential play-off final against either Northern Ireland or Bosnia awaits on November 12th.

UEFA have also confirmed that Dublin will remain as a host city for the upcoming European Championships.

The national team football windows of October and November 2020 will now feature triple-headers instead of double-headers.
