Watch: Dundalk exit Europa League at the hands of Slovan Bratislava at Tallaght Stadium
Premier Division winners Dundalk have exited the Europa League qualifiers thanks to a bitterly disappointing two goal defeat at Tallaght Stadium against Slovan Bratislava.
Dundalk started well but fell behind after 12 minutes. Rafael Ratao headed home at the back post after a quick counter-attack for the visitors.
An uphill task was made even tougher just past the half-hour mark when Aleksandar Cavric profited on a mistake from Andy Boyle to lift the ball past Gary Rogers in the Co. Louth side’s goal.
Vinny Perth’s side rallied in the second half – and got a deserved goal through Michael Duffy with just under twenty minutes of normal time to play.
The hosts were then awarded a penalty, but Patrick Hoban was unable to make it count, seeing his spot-kick saved from Dominik Greif.
Daniel then made sure of the visitors win late on in injury time as he fired home in stoppage time, leaving the Lilywhites exiting European competition for 2019.
