Monaghan United will be looking to keep their home form going as they take on Athlone Town on Friday night. United have seen off Limerick 37 and Shelbourne at Kingspan Century Park so far this season and will intend adding to their 2 home wins this week.

Athlone have gotten off to a shaky start and had their first game of the season postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. They have only managed to get one point on the board from the 3 games they have played when they drew with Waterford United. They have suffered 2-0 defeats at the hands of Sporting Fingal and Shelbourne in their other games so far this season and were knocked out of the cup by Bray Wanderers on a 3-0 scoreline.

Ex Monaghan United Player Jason McCartney has moved to Athlone Town for the season but there have been no other player movements between the clubs this season.

Mons manager Mick Cooke said, “It was disappointing last week that the game was called off against Kildare County and it will mean that we will have to work really hard to try and keep our good start to the league going. We have played 2 games at home this season and won them both so hopefully we can keep winning our home games and beat Athlone.”

“McCrossan is still suspended and I am without Brian Murphy but other than that I have a full squad to choose from.”
