Waterford United continue their eircom league campaign this Friday evening when they entertain Limerick 37. The game at the RSC (KO: 7.45pm) promises to be a stiff test for the Blues with the visitors side containing a number of former players as well as the previous management team.

Gareth Cronin does have suspension issues to contend with as Vinny Sullivan completes his carryover ban from last season’s play-off game against Finn Harps that saw him red carded while John Hayes is also ruled out following his red card against Wexford Youths in the opening game of the season. Cronin also looks likely to have to plan without the influential Dave Warren who picked up an knee injury in last week’s victory over Sporting Fingal so Luke Fitzpatrick could return to the starting line-up.

Gareth Cronin was placed about the win against Sporting Fingal, he said;” That was the performance that I had been waiting for. Although we were unbeaten up to then, we hadn’t really played that well so it was really gratifying to see everybody perform well.. We were magnificent and probably were worth one or two more goals and we showed that we are, there or thereabouts, the best team in this league.”

Speaking about this week’s game, he said;” I said last week that I would like two wins in a row and we already have one of those wins under our belt, so hopefully we can add another three points on Friday. I want a similar performance from the team as last week, full of passion and commitment.”
