I'm Chomping At The Bit - Partridge

St Patricks Athletics’ defender David Partridge is looking forward to facing Valetta at Richmond Park in the Europa Cup tomorrow, after being forced to sit on the sidelines during last years European run.

“I’m confident. I didn’t play last year so I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve never played in Europe and I’m obviously chomping at the bit. It’ll be a great experience to be involved,” said Partridge.

St Pats haven’t enjoyed the best of seasons and after a dismal run earlier in the year they find themselves in sixth position in the Premier Division - eighteen points behind Bohemians.

“It’s been frustrating but obviously there have been a lot of changes. It’s difficult for new people coming into the club to gel so I think we’ve done quite well,” said Partridge.

Manager Jeff Kenna may have to pick from just 16 players for tomorrows game after he saw his side again stripped down through injuries and suspensions. Indeed the signing of Declan O’Brien is just in time to bulk up the squad’s numbers ahead of the tie.

“I’ve been a pro for fourteen years and hand on heart this is the most unlucky squad I’ve been involved in with injuries and suspensions. I think we’ve got through it quite well considering,” added Partridge.
