Tony Cousins and his management team have been relieved of their duties after an unanimous decision by the Executive Board of Galway United FC.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the Board decided that "a change of direction is required at this stage to achieve its stated objectives." Billy Clery has been appointed interim manager and will fulfill the duty on a caretaker basis.

Galway United have only managed to secure one point from twelve so far this season, that coming after a 1-1 away draw to Cobh Ramblers.

Cousins was appointed manager of Galway United in 2006.
