Inchicore Athletic and Crumlin United clash in pick of FAI Cup qualifying round draw

An intriguing Dublin 12 derby was the highlight of the draw for the qualifying round of the 2018 FAI Senior Cup, which took place in Abbottstown on Wednesday afternoon.

Upwardly Leinster Senior League Senior 1A Inchicore Athletic were drawn at home to near neighbours Crumlin United.

The two sides already share use of Pearse Park in Crumlin, so there'll be plenty of familiarity between the sides.

Inchicore have achieved four successive promotions, which has taken them from LSL Sunday Premier to the third tier of intermediate football.

The two sides are among 16 sides from the intermediate ranks who made it to this stage on account of reaching the latter stages of the FAI Intermediate Cup.

The one exception was Cork side Everton, who were knocked out by UCD's LSL side in the round of 32 but were sent through as the Students can only enter one side in the cup.

Everton have been rewarded with a tough draw away to Intermediate Cup finalists Maynooth University.

An all-Munster ties see Cork sides Avondale United and Leeds host Limerick's Pike Rovers and Tipperary's St Michael's respectively.

Wexford side North End United were drawn at home to Cherry Orchard, while a west Dublin derby will see Clondalkin's Dublin Bus host Intermediate Cup semi-finalists Firhouse Clover.

Dublin's Home Farm, Donegal's Cockhill Celtic, Clare's Newmarket Celtic and Blarney United of Cork all received byes to the FAI Senior Cup first round proper.
