Cobh Ramblers snap up another Cork City full-back in Kevin Taylor

Cobh Ramblers have signed their second Cork City full-back of the week as they confirmed the signing of Kevin Taylor from their cross-county counterparts.

The 19-year-old arrives on a permanent deal four days after City right-back John Kavanagh signed a loan deal at St Colman's Park until the end of the season.

Taylor has spent the past four seasons with Stephen Bermingham's City under-19s and was part of the side that won the under-19 league in 2014-15 and the Enda McGuill Cup the following year.

Like Kavanagh, Taylor has previously worked under Ramblers' assistant coach Stuart Ashton at City and has shared a pitch with new teammates Craig Donnelan and Cian Coleman.

“Kevin is another talented young player and we are very happy that he has joined our senior squad,” said Ramblers head honcho Stephen Henderson.

“He is a versatile player and comfortable in both full back/ wing back positions.

“We are going through a tough spell with injuries and players leaving to further their education so he is coming in at a good time.

“Kevin will look to push into the starting eleven straight away and we are looking forward to seeing how he progresses.”

Cobh also confirmed today that top scorer Matthew Whelan and Jason Abbott were leaving the club due to study and work commitments.

Taylor is expected to go straight into the squad to face Wexford at Ferrycarrig Park on Friday night (kick-off 8pm).
